Water you waiting for? Visit Iceland!

The weather totally matched our mood about it being our last day in Iceland. It was cold, windy and rainy when we left our hotel in Kirkjubæjarklaustur (say that three times fast) on Friday morning. It was time to pack up and make our way back towards the airport.

Our first stop on the list was Dyrhólaey viewpoint. There were panoramic views of the coast that consisted of huge waves crashing into the black sand beach.

This is the southern most point of Iceland. One thing we missed here were the puffins. Iceland has one of the world’s most populated puffin colonies. It happened to be nesting season while we were here so unfortunately we didn’t see them. The overcast day couldn’t stop the beauty!

Next we headed to another waterfall called Skógafoss. We actually stopped there on Thursday but it was shut down because they were filming a movie. We were glad to make the stop again to get closer to the waterfall.

The last stop in Iceland was the Blue Lagoon. We had booked our ticket a couple of months in advance. We were really nervous about it being rainy and cold. Crazy enough, the moment we got there it stopped raining and the sun came out! What are the odds of that?? The temperature was similar to that of a hot tub! It felt amazing. We hit up the Silica Mud mask bar. Such a cool experience!! We even had a photo shoot sesh.It was definitely a great last stop to be able to relax before an early morning!

This week has been nothing but amazing. We are so thankful to have been able to experience this beautiful country. This week has proved that it most definitely should be on everyone’s list to visit!

We are currently at the airport, getting ready to board our plane to Dublin! Sad to leave Iceland, but looking forward to some Ireland adventures!
